We invite you to join us for 36 hours behind the gates of Tuxedo Park, New York with Michael Bruno – founder of online luxury goods marketplace 1stdibs.

Historian Chiu Yin Hempel once  wrote that  “Tuxedo Park, one of America’s first planned communities was for decades synonymous with upper-class living….among its members the Vanderbilts, Astors, and Morgans…the Tuxedo jacket had its debut here.”

Once inside the stone gates of the park,  Michael Bruno will lead our trip through many private homes that evoke the Gilded Age. The sprawling estates owe their architectural inspiration to Tudor, Jacobean, Spanish Mission, and Gothic Revival styles (among others). The designers thoughtfully integrated each property into the hills surrounding a peaceful lake. Over lunch at the famous Tuxedo Club, a Tuxedo Park historian will recount the extravagant pastimes in which the community so often engaged.  Enjoy a wonderful boat ride on the lake, dinner in the gardens of the Valley Rock Inn and so much more on this unique, one-time experience.

Wednesday, October 13th

Our tour will kick off at 11am at our hotel for a coffee and welcome introduction by Michael Bruno. We will then board a mini-coach and tour the park on a ride through the various winding roads and learning the stories behind the private homes that evoke the gilded ages.  Hear how the smoking jacket was named "Tuxedo" after this distinctive place.

Enjoy lunch at the Tuxedo Club, overlooking the lake with a historical lecture of the park. Following lunch, we will tour inside two of the homes in Tuxedo Park before enjoying a boat ride on the lake. The evening will kick off with a Happy Hour in the gardens of the Valley Rock Inn with some of the Tuxedo Park residents who have hosted us.

Finally,  we will enjoy a farm-to-table menu personally selected by Michael Bruno’s team - enjoying our meal in the lodge dining room that provides a rustic vibe, complete with three wood-burning fireplaces.

Thursday, October 14th

Start the morning off with breakfast followed by an optional Hike in the fall foliage-covered hills with Michael Bruno. We will also get a chance to visit the famous train station of Tuxedo Park built by the famous architect Bruce Price. Following that, we will return to the park to tour two additional private homes.

We will then enjoy a private lunch at the home that is considered the grandest in the park -  hosted by the owners/top New York City art collectors.  The dining room overlooks the lake and many of the homes in the park.
